Introduction to Codesign, Consumer Engagement & Design Thinking

Strong consumer engagement is the foundation of the Aged Care Quality Standards, with providers needing to demonstrate how consumers are involved in the planning, delivery and review of their care and services. This session will provide you with an understanding of what’s involved in codesign and the mindset that overlays design thinking to ensure that services are relevant and beneficial for the people they are intended to serve.

Goal Explorer Training for Social Support Groups
Are you interested in improving your planning of activities to ensure that individual client goals are being supported?
Then join the Goal Explorer workshop, introducing the Goal Explorer tool.  The tool supports providers to reconsider goals, use goals more effectively for activity planning and then review outcomes with a focus on improvement.
Attendance is limited to 2 participants per organisation, with the view that participants will share the learnings with colleagues.

Can Clients and Assessors find your service?
Service Providers have an obligation to manage and update their service information via the My Aged Care provider portal to ensure accurate information is presented publicly through the My Aged Care service finders and to support appropriate referrals to service by the contact centre and RAS or ACAS assessors. Without up to date information regarding the types of services you offer, where you provide these services and the availability of these services – you could be missing out on referrals or creating barriers for accessing services.
It is important that you have a systematic approach to ensuring that your My Aged Care provider portal information is kept up to date.  With the start of a new year – it is a great time to review your information and ensure that you have the necessary processes in place to ensure that this is maintained.
After undertaking just two quick searches for areas within the Grampians Region – it is evident that there is still misinformation on the provider portal.   However it is great to see that some organisations are maintaining the information and clearly demonstrating where they provide service and availability of these services.
I would strongly encourage all providers to review their information and update as necessary.

Reminder: CHSP grandfathered client additional migration – My Aged Care provider portal closes on 29 January 2021

The My Aged Care provider portal will close at 11:59pm AEDT Friday 29 January 2021. We remind providers to:
  • upload your grandfathered client data using the new data collection template – the previous template cannot be re-submitted into the provider portal
  • enter client service information
  • submit the completed information.
There are no extensions. ‘Grandfathered clients’ are people who received services before the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) began and who are not yet registered in My Aged Care.
Indigenous interpreting service and translated resources available via My Aged Care Interpreting Service My Aged Care can connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to an Indigenous interpreting service to provide aged care information in a person’s preferred language. To access an Indigenous interpreter, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and ask for an interpreter in your client’s preferred language.

New Grant Round Open: Commonwealth Home Support Programme Growth Funding Round for 2020-21 and 2021-22 The department is seeking applications from high performing aged care and disability support providers to deliver targeted entry level services in the home to older Australians through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). As part of this grant opportunity, the department is committing up to $124.4m in additional grant funding across 2020-21 and 2021-22 financial years. This will include $32.2m per year over two years commencing in financial year 2020-21 and a separate allocation of up to $60m in 2021-22. This additional growth funding will:
  • increase the capacity of the CHSP to provide prioritised entry level aged care services in high demand areas
  • provide more support and choice of services to older Australians requiring some help to remain living safely at home and in their community.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) – Emergency support for COVID-19 The objective of this grant is to provide assistance through limited financial support to existing CHSP service providers to enable them to respond to unforeseen and exceptional circumstances that directly impact on existing service delivery arrangements that are beyond the control of the grant recipient. This grant opportunity will provide grant funding for two groups of CHSP Providers, Group A CHSP Providers delivering any activity type(s) and Group B CHSP meals providers. For more details please refer to the Grant Opportunity Guidelines by selecting the “GO Documents” red button to the left-hand-side. Eligibility:Group A To be eligible for a Group A grant you must have a current executed Whole of Government grant agreement with the Commonwealth to deliver CHSP services. Group B To be eligible for a Group B grant you must have a current executed Whole of Government grant agreement with the Commonwealth to deliver CHSP meals services. For details:
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Ad hoc Proposals Description: The purpose of this grant opportunity is to provide CHSP providers with an opportunity to submit ad-hoc proposals to enable them to respond to unforeseen and exceptional circumstances, address gaps in service delivery and trial and implement new and innovative service delivery models. LGBTI Ageing & Aged Care Awareness Training – Introduction Val’s presents an LGBTI Ageing & Aged Care awareness training via Zoom for staff working in CHSP or other aged care support programs. The LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care training session provides an introduction to supporting and working with older LGBTI people. This program is delivered via Zoom and ideal for staff working across CHSP and/or supporting older people in the community or care settings. The session will introduce participants to the following: – LGBTI communities, terminology, definitions & history – Key aspects of LGBTI ageing – An introduction to LGBTI inclusive practice This interactive sessions is delivered via Zoom – the Zoom invitations will be sent only to registered participants prior to the training session. This session is funded through CHSP sector support and development, and open to a maximum of 4 participants per organisation.
